JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – First Florida Credit Union recently named Joe Markley as Senior Vice President of Operations. In his new position, Markley manages the credit union’s branch operations statewide, which includes creating and executing business plans for each region in the market to ensure the member experience is consistent in all delivery channels.
Markley was promoted from his role as Vice President of Business Services, which he held for the past three years. In this position, Markley bolstered First Florida Credit Union’s business services department, helping to add 250 members in 2020.
Before that, he served as a Regional Branch Manager at First Florida Credit Union in 2011, managing the Jacksonville and Orlando branches. Markley spearheaded innovative initiatives, including the credit union’s “refer a member” program, and developed several key community partnerships.
Brent Lister, President and CEO of First Florida Credit Union, noted that Markley’s ambition, leadership qualities and dedication to members made him a natural fit for Senior Vice President of Operations. He said Markley has implemented impressive changes that have allowed the credit union to provide excellent products and services to members both in-person and virtually.
“Joe has an extensive history of growth within our organization, and his passion for positive change is evident in the results that he yields for our members,” Lister said. “We have no doubt that he will continue to excel in this new position.”
Before his time with First Florida Credit Union, Markley held various leadership roles in banking as well as corporate and business lending. He previously worked for financial institutions including Mercantile Bank, Atlantic Coast Bank and Merrill Lynch. He also served in both the United States Army and Navy.
Markley holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Phoenix. He holds designations as a Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE), Credit Union Business Lending Professional (CUBLP), and Certified Financial Manager (CFM).
