Securityplus Federal Credit Union Partners with Baltimore Hunger Project to Combat Food Insecurity
BALTIMORE, MD (March 05, 2025) – Securityplus Federal Credit Union has joined forces with the Baltimore Hunger Project to tackle food insecurity through a community food packing event, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and social impact.
The event, held at Securityplus headquarters on February 28, 2025, brought together employees, volunteers, and local partners to assemble over 300 snack bags for teachers to distribute to students facing food insecurity. These snack bags provide essential, nutritious foods to children who may not have reliable access to meals outside of school, ensuring they receive the support they need over weekends when school meals are unavailable.
“I am proud to partner with the Baltimore Hunger Project to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children in our community,” said Obi Ndukwe, Chief People and Impact Officer at Securityplus Federal Credit Union. “This initiative embodies the power of collaboration and service, strengthening our commitment to the well-being of Baltimore’s youth.”
The Baltimore Hunger Project delivers more than 1,500 weekend meal bags each week to children across the Baltimore region. This initiative ensures that students do not go hungry outside of school hours and helps provide much-needed stability to families facing financial hardship.
“Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond environmental impact—it extends to sustaining our communities through proactive support,” said Jack Schiefer, VP of Facilities and Chair of the Securityplus Sustainability Team. “Partnering with the Baltimore Hunger Project allows us to directly address food insecurity and create a tangible impact. It’s about more than providing meals—it’s about providing hope and security for the future.”
